Yup, traveling can be stressful, especially when it’s work-related air travel. Working for a remote company, there are only a few times each year for the whole team to connect in real life. Spending some real-life face time means traveling to our semi-annual company retreats. Our retreats are awesome, but let’s face it— the actual traveling from point A to point B can be stressful.
Recently, we asked our team— what are some of your travel hacks?
Here are some of my favorites out of the tips people shared
Bring a dedicated Chapstick to use for the inside of your nose
To use inside your nose? Yup! A colleague swears by the moisture-locking and bacteria-prevention benefits of lightly coating the inside of your schnoz with some Chapstick.
Keep a stash of antibacterial wipes in your personal item carry-on
(Opt for antibacterial wipes instead of a bottle of hand sanitizer!)
You’re going to be touching all sorts things that hundreds of other people have touched, just in the last day alone. (Moving walkway handrails, anyone?) Keep a travel sized package or quart sized Ziploc baggie full of antibacterial wipes within easy reach to keep your hands clean and the germs at bay.
When going through airport security, wear a light jacket (with pockets!)
The light jacket, specifically with pockets, helps keep the chill away and keeps your necessities (like your passport card, license, and boarding pass) within easy reach.
Use travel packing cubes to maximize space
People tell me this is a game-changer. Whether you’re a heavy packer or super minimalist, this helps you make the most of your available suitcase space— helping you save money by cutting down or eliminating the need to check your baggage!
