The Great Forgotten Garden Party
I’m a sucker for a pretty garden, and Untermyer is one of my favorites. For the past three years, the ubiquitous Atlas Obscura has hosted a summer soiree on these hallowed grounds. The event is as audacious as it is intoxicating, and if you’re in NYC or the Hudson Valley during the next Great Forgotten Garden Party, you really ought to get in on the fun.

Whimsy in Westchester
When you walk through the fairy-tale-like gates, you’ll see how the Walled Garden and breathtaking Vista staircase were created just for midsummer evening events like this. At $70 a pop for a 2019 ticket, before you shell out for food and drinks, this annual night of whimsy won’t make for a cheap date night. But if you’re down to dress up and mingle like Aleister Crowley himself invited you to a hush-hush shindig, this is your chance. Your ticket also gives you access to live music, eyefuls of roving dancers, and some downright magical vibes.

About the Gardens
Next time you’re in New York City, hop on the Metro-North up to the Greystone station in Yonkers. The garden entrance is a short walk or an even shorter Uber ride away. Cost of entry to this divine slice of paradise in the Lower Hudson Valley? Absolutely free. Read our more in-depth profile of this park here.
